Physician education and training resources

The AMA encourages physicians to access the following education and training resources to help end your state’s opioid epidemic. California (and Hawaii) have had the lowest per capita retail-filled opioid prescriptions in the United States in 2016.

CURES: Preparing for the New Duty-to-Consult Requirement

Effective October 2, 2018, California physicians must consult California's PDMP (the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System, or CURES) – prior to prescribing Schedule II, III or IV controlled substances. The California Medical Association recently co-hosted a live CURES webinar with the California Department of Justice and the Medical Board of California regarding this new duty-to-consult requirement.
